Building Independent Communication & Self Advocacy for Children With Profound Autism
This interactive in person AAC workshop is open to underserved families with children with profound autism who do not have access to augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, along with parents who are looking to build their knowledge, skills and resources with research-aligned teaching approaches to building independent communication and self-advocacy.
April 13th from 6-8 pm
Participants will learn foundations of AAC, myths and barriers to AAC adoption, step-by-step teaching strategies, and receive hands-on practice in building independent communication and self-advocacy skills using an AAC system.
Parents will take home:
- 6 months of online AAC parent training (5-6 hours)
- complimentary Linggo AAC software licenses (1 per family, or child)
- a digital low-tech communication board templates for child customization
- a goodie bag/toy kit from workshop practice
Pizza, snacks and refreshments will also be provided at the workshop.
