Luka Bear is a tabletop device with a 10 inch touchscreen, made by Eldercare Robotics LLC. It holds conversation in a familiar voice, gives spoken reminders for medications and appointments as verbal prompts, provides daily orientation cueing, and offers games and activities through the day. A caregiver app lets a family member or support professional check in from anywhere and speak with the person through Luka, so they can be present without being in the room. Room units add night time support. If someone gets up or becomes unsettled during the night, Luka responds in steps, starting with a calming voice or familiar music and escalating to alerting a family member or on-call staff member only if it is needed. Luka is not a medical device and makes no clinical claim. A fully camera free configuration is available, containing no camera, no video, no images and no recordings of any kind. If you think Luka could help you or someone you support, you can ask your case manager whether it might be considered under the Assistive Technology benefit.
